Yeah, I agree with you. I would like to know Mr. Mallard's reaction to his wife's death and how he felt towards her. I think that would clarify some confusion the story creates. For instance, the part where Mrs. Mallard thinks that she might cry again when she sees "the face that had never looked save with love upon her," clearly indicates that he loved her, and so that makes me wonder what he saw in her. Did she show him love or hatred? If it was hatred, was he oblivious to her emotions or just forcing her to stay in the marriage for his sake? I believe, because the story leaves crucial details, that it, forces the reader to make their own assumptions to fill in the gap, and knowing more about what was going on in their marriage from both parties would have made things evident.
