Psoriasis. Like, like any other condition, it impacts one's life in various ways. It affects the way you feel about yourself, what you choose to wear, the way you tend to manage your symptoms and the way you care for your health. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition where skin cells tend to build up and form dry, sometimes painful, and itchy patches. From the perspective of an ill-educated person, they might automatically assume that psoriasis might beis contagious. Though they arewould be wrong.
SinceEver since when I was a little girl, I alwayshave had these abnormal patches appear in random spots ofon my body. There is always anxiety lingering around in my mind about whether I should wear long sleeves or a short sleeve, sleeves; if they are visible when I wear a dress, can; if the person behind me can see my plaques; or if I should even avoid swimming pool areas. It is difficult to go out and doexperience all the things I want to experience. I am always afraid of showing my plaques and answering everyone's questions. ¨Is that a rash?¨ ¨Oh my gosh how did you hurt yourself?¨ ¨Have you visited a dermatologist?¨. All these questions just bother me whereso that I just do not even step out of my own home. I am sure we all want to be singled out for good reasons, but with my skin condition it is always because I am different.

As a daughter fromof immigrant parents I had to do my own research.
