Identity has had growing popularity in topics that relate to learning a foreign language. Especially in developing nations, such as Saudi Arabia,; the high rate of change results in the matter of identity, weighing concerns on its relevance ton the people (Hopkyns, 2014). Due to the fact that language is a form of expression, learning a new language has sometimes been branded as manoeuvering to acquire a totally new identity (Taylor, Busse, Gagova, Marsden and Roosken, 2013). This significantly builds the relationship between identity and learning language, especially so for the second language. Language in the in the Arabic context is viewed as more than a vehicle of communication, but has been regarded as a symbol of identity (BITAR, 2011), therefore, maintenance in times of challenge often translates to development of culture, survival, and thus, more valuable than territory (BITAR, 2011). In as much as there are concerns over second language learning on identity, globalization is upon us, and there hasve been lots of exchange between cultures (Al Khateeb, 2015). Arabic only as a medium of communication poses a negative impacts on the context of globalization, and for a country such as Saudi Arabia, thuere is a need to learn foreign languages to promote multilingualism so as to participate effectively in the new economy (Sabry Daif-Allah, 2012).
