InFrom my point of view, both of them, Bliss and her mother, are not wrong when they support their choices, even though these choices are against each other’s viewpoint. I find myself in the same situation with Bliss who has different videwa about recreation, because we are infrom a younger generation. Bliss knows exactly what she likes and what she wants to do. I can see in the movie two different characters when Bliss is at home and when she joins her friends at the roller derby team. Similarly, I show my compassion to Bliss’s mother who always wants the best for her children. I think family is a small society and the parents use rules that set by the societyal rules on their children,. and Bliss’s mother does the same but, overall, what she wants, as a mother, is to bring happiness to her daughter as a mother.
For me, going against a parent’s expectation is never fun and itcan isbe torture. Bliss eventually can do what she likes to do, but what she has to pay for is making her mother disappointed. Her mother will be happier if she chooses to join the beauty pageants instead of joining the roller derby team. AlsFurthermore, the fact that she is a woman cannot ever be changed and, unfortunately, society still has a different view forn gender roles and expectations betweenfor men and women. Being a skater, and playing a male-dominated sport, Bliss will have society and people's judgment that she may be seen differently from other women. From what her mother said, “What do you think that the world thinks of those girls with all their tattoos? Do you think they have an easy time finding a job, or getting a loan application, or going to a decent college, or find a husband,” we can tell that this is exactly what theow society sees Bliss and the roller derby girls.
