My hypothesis was supported by the data we gathered online and during the class’s experiment. In the cold water, the goldfish should breathe slow and in the hot water the fish should breathe faster. This occurs because, the fish is cold blooded, so the water temperature will either slow down or speed up the fish’s metabolism. When the fish’s metabolism is slow the fish doesn’t require as much oxygen, so it doesn’t breathe as fast. On the other hand, if the fish is in warmer water the fish’s metabolism will speed up, which requires the fish to breathe faster.
