My freshman class and many before it saw the real danger of this sparse supply of water through the Water Drop Trip we had the privilege to attend at the beginning of the year. We learned through a day of hard rowing and a blazing hot sun that whatever we do on this watershed doesn’t just affect our local lakes and waters, but the whole world. When we leave trash in the water or let the products of factories reside in the water, that water can flow back to channel upon channel until it hits major oceans and smaller streams in completely different countries. This demonstrates how we as a community, and even the world, needs to slow down for a second and really think about how we are treating our water. Because no matter how secluded you are, there is no where you can run that won’t somehow be affected by what the world is doing. If we are going to live on this planet together, we are going to have to work as a team for the one thing that every person runs on: water.
