Since the guidelines for the informative speech said that the topic needs to be politically or culturally related to an event within the last eighteen months or so, I chose Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign as my topic to deliver the informative speech. During the speech, I address the contemporary issues of significance, such as a political campaign is not a platform to attack someone; or on some issues, rather than addressing the issues twhat needs attention of, such as income inequality, healthcare reforms, student loans, issues on non-documented immigrants, and a trade deals. The target audience of my speech are those people who knows only a little bit about Bernie Sanders, and my main message wais to give my audience a broad picture about Sanders, such as who he is, he? His early life, how he came into politics?. I Dwill describe different positions that he served as a politician, what his campaign looks like, what is his main message, challenges that he faced during the campaign process, some of the issues that he failed to address, and some of the changes that he made in the American Ppolitics.
In the process of crafting my outline for the informative speech;, I used research from different sources, such as academic peer-reviewed journals and the newspaper articles. I used these articles because they are credible and they were reviewed by thean expert in the particular field. Also, I used newspapers such as The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times because these newspapers are publically trusted papers for the real time information. Therefore, I relyied on these sources. In terms of language choice during the speech, I used a very simple language because sometimes the message or the main points will not be clear to an audience if the speaker useds sophistica bigted and fancy terms. In the planning process, I came up with the topic, did the research, wriote my outline, and practiced fora few times. I struggled with time management in the actual speech and ended ofup skipping many things from outline, because to follow the guidelines of the informativon, the tspeechat needsed to be five minutes in length.
Before the speech, I was thinking I will deliver the speech without any problem because I am prepared fairly well; however, during the actual speech, I was a little bit nervous, and I realize my voice changed a little bit, and my hands were shaking. I have no problem with having limited notes because I even didn’t take a look at my notes. After my speech, I realized I should have spoken with confidence, rather than being nervous.
