The appropriate target audience for this learning resource is parents and children affected by hyperglycemia, to address their lack of knowledge about diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) (Lugo-Enriquez, Passafiume, & Brodsky2012). Literature has indicated a lack of understanding and noncompliance in Insulin therapy, and has a major impact on children leading to DKA, even morbidities and mortality (Sy, 2016). OnsetThe onset of DKA due to unawareness of symptoms can lead to an emergency. Parents and children who are affected by this condition need the ability to recognize the of seriousness of symptoms of the DKA and risk manage (Szypowska, et al. 2016). Learning resources are a good source of educational tool in enhancing patient knowledge (Rankin, Harden, Waugh, Noyes, Barnard, & Lawton, 2016). This resource provides a better understanding for the parents to identify and take actions in a timely manner.
