During the late 1930’s and early 1950’s, African AmericansAfrican-Americans were heavily discriminated against by white supremacists. This later led to the creation of the cycle of expectation and anomalies in mass incarceration. We see history repeating itself in the sense that people tend to classify blacks under a certain stereotype. If you are black, you are a “criminal”, or have a certain income level. The panel titled “Dr. Charles Drew” talks about Dr. drewDrew, an African AmericanAfrican-American doctor who developed a way to store blood plasma in blood banks. and besideBeside him to his left and right, it introduces you to the work employment available for black women and housing struggles for African AmericansAfrican-Americans. After analyzing this panel, I can argue that expectations lead to mass incarceration.
