I sat down with children from year 1 and year 2 to listen to them, and support them towith reading books, if needed, read books. Each child had their own individual books that were suited to their personal reading level. It was a pleasant and interesting experience that was quite new to me.
I would say that the best part
would bewas the feeling that I was playing a part in supporting these children to widen their vocabulary and encounter new and challenging words.
From this event, I would say that the most difficult part of this
would bewas that, to assist each child effectively, I had to have an understanding of their reading capability. This was because I had to help individual children using individual techniques and strategies. It was also slightly frustrating when children became stuck on a certain word, which washappened often,; however, I was able to recover from this by repeatedly going over that particular word syllable by syllable.
Overall, I would say that it was an incredibly memorable and rewarding experience
, and one that I will certainly remember infor years to come.
