I belong to acome from the remote village of Azad Kashmir, situated on the line of control (LOC). As it's been a disputed territory between India and Pakistan, fromsince my childhood, iI have always seen loads of people being injured and dying in cross-border firing and shelling. DespiteBecause of the war-like situation, my village is lackinglacks basic healthcare facilities. So, iThis is the reason why I opted for the medical field - I want to serve my community. Despite many difficulties and financial strains, I worked hard, left my home and came to Lahore for medicalmy education.
I have always have been an active, hardworking, enthusiastic and a creative student with leadership qualities.
Besides studiesstudying, iI am also interested in many cocurricularextra-curricular activities. I have won many debatingdebates, quizquizzes and essay writing competitions. I gothave received many awards, including a gold medal from the READ foundation. I am also interested inpassionate about cycling and mountain climbing.
Moreover, I'm a part of many organizations working for the betterment of youth. I recently participated in a 10km cycling compaign for plastic freecampaign advocating a plastic-free society. I am working as a volunteer with aan healthcare organization which provides free guidance to patients. I also worked as a volunteer in differentvarious free medical camps.
Studying in the USA and visiting the best teaching hospitals will not only enhance my clinical skills, but also provide me with an opportunity to interact with people from other cultures. After returning back, I'll be able to servesupport my people in a better way, who are suffering from lack of basic healthcare facilities. UGRAD will be a great opportunity for me.
