Peter Fin was a 14 year old14-year-old boy who was about to start high school in a new country in the fall.
HimHe and his mom had just moved to America from Australia in the summer. He wasn’t excited
about leaving his friends and making new ones, especially since he found out he has dyslexia
about a year ago. He was nervous that people would make fun of him. He already had friends in
Australia who supported him through everything
, and moving away felt like the world was going
to end for him. His family moved into a suburb in North Carolina. Back in Australia, they lived
in the city where it was always loud and chaotic. Peter thought moving to the suburbs was a nice
change. His neighbor, Anna Hitcherson, saw the Fin family moving in one morning and decided
to go and
greetintroduce herself. Peter saw her walking up to him and immediately became nervous.
“Hi, I’m Anna, your next door neighbor!” exclaimed Anna.
“I’m Peter, we just moved here from Australia about 2 months ago
,” said Peter.
Anna could tell
hershe and Peter we’rewere close in age and immediately questioned where he was going
to attend school. Peter told her he was going to attend Lincoln High. Anna was so excited and
told him she could show him around Lincoln since they both will be attending the same high
school.
