I am Yunmeng Dong, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Toronto, who majored in Art History.
I am interested in applying for the Master of Art history(researchHistory program (research program), and I want to know what is the application procedure beprocedure like? Should I email the supervisor my transcript, my reference letters, and my research proposal? Are there any other steps I should know?
My passion for East Asian art history began with a class I have taken. One of my professorprofessors, Jennifer Purtle, who teaches Chinese art was very innovative to have classes taking place at Royal Ontario Museum,. I had the chance to practice object-oriented analysis, to closely observe exquisite Chinese artifacts, we. We even had the chance to get into the Laboratorylaboratory in Royal Ontario Museum to learn about things such as historical dye and how they apply to art conservation nowadays.
This experience hadmade me develop an interest in East Asian art and decideddecide to pursue further study in this field. I have looked at all the professors and their research topics online; Professor Dr. Stephen Whitman, with his topic of Qing court art and architecture, seems to align with my area of interest. I believe my previous understatingunderstanding of East Asian art, my academic writing skills, and my Chinese background are sufficient enough to support my further research in this field,
. Although my Cumulative GPA is weak, Mymy art history major GPA is around B+ to A-,.
I took art history as my major during my last two years of undergrad. And my academic performance in Artart history courses was significantly better than my other courses.
Please let me know if there is anything I could do to strengthen my application.
