Gore, et al., (2004) describedstated that politicians are encouraged to decline debt levels because lower taxes for property will increase their chances of re-election. Debreceny, et al., (2002) studiedshowed that incumbents are prompted to use online reports and reveal further information because it helps the lender to monitor the activities of government on a regular basis. The more reliance on exterior sources of funding, isthe greater the disclosure. (Ingram, 1984) Many researchesresearchers confirmed that there is a positive relationship among budget reporting and debt levels. (Styles and Tennyson, 2007; Caba-Pérez, et al., 2008; Caamaño-Alegre, et al., 2013; De Araújo and Tejedo-Romero, 2017). But, the above statement is contradictory with the research conducted by Alt, et al., (2006) as he concluded that the BT would be lower if debt increased and the debt variables used as a control variable. Finally, due to the debt measures and different leverage used, these variables are more significant for determination of BT.
