Lynch Law, a journal article by Ida B. wellsWells, depicts the many monstrous things that occurred in the nineteenth19th century targeting the minorities who were the prideproud of our America but instead seen as freaks instead. Lynching is a heinous act that is possibly one of the worst ways one hasthat a life can be ended their life. Lynching is the act of killing someone, mainly bythrough hanging by a mob without any legal approval. Now, during these times, only some were lynched. Minorities, including both men and women, were the target of these crimes. Why, you may you ask? They were accused of rape, of not following orders, of committing crimes that they didn’t do, and more. The thing that made it worse is the “carnival atmosphere” in which these crimes were committed. People gathered and enjoyed seeing this criminal act being done andcommitted, even hearing the cries of the tortured individuals as they died. From reading this text, you can infer that Black women Hadhad it more difficult, as they were the main ones who were “used” before being lynched. These women were raped and taken advantage of before it was the endtheir lives were ended. Now, it can also be inferred that maybe all women had this same situation, reason as to why is idaas Ida B. wells asWells was a black woman and anti-Lynching, anti-lynching and a feminist, so maybe she was a little biased in her statement, but no matter who it was, it is a sickening practice, and it is horrible to whatthat a human can do that to another human. Also, how violent the nation was, with the frequency of violence, savagery, and cruelty. furthermoreFurthermore, the racial ideology of white men to define lynching, not as racism or gender control but to avenge their manhood, is disheartening. This reading made us realize the difficulties that minorities were faced with, and reminds us up until today that minorities are faced withcontinue to face troubles and far more difficult paths than others.
