I have wanted to isolate myself from anything digital for years now. I’ve never seen it as a digital detox, just a fun experience in which you had to talk to other people if you wanted to keep your sanity. I think that the best place for this kind of adventure is a forest because if you leave all your electronic devices in the car (maybe bringing with you only an emergency satellite geo locator/phone in case of emergency) and walk far enough into the woods even if you want to use your phone for whatever reason you wouldn’t be able to since after one hour of walking your desires would probably have already gone away. There are obvious risks, like getting lost in the forest but that’s why we brought the satellite locator or being unable to be contacted by the outside world, but we would always be able to talk to them since we brought the satellite phone. Even having all of these risks I think the benefits would be immense, first off team building, you won’t survive a day if your team is not cohesive, secondly, internal peace, we are constantly bombarded by all types of stimuli every day, there aren’t that many in a quiet and calm forest are there? Last but not least a week away from the screens would help your eyes, nowadays. Nowadays people are getting glasses at an alarmingly young age because of phone screens and computer monitors that, being so close to the face of the reader, make them lose their far eyesight;long vision. I think that a week away from these couldn’t do much harm.
