She had six brothers and one sister. Jane was the youngest daughter of a large family. She was especially close to her older sister Cassandra. She went to Winchester for treatment but the disease progressed so quickly that she died within two months. She is buried in the local cathedral. After she died, her brother Henry publicly acknowledged her authorship. The oldest sketches of future famous novels were created during the 1990s. In 1830, she sold her novel Northanger Abbey, formerly called Susan. However, the publisher decided not to publish it.
