The stakes were high, there was so much to lose. In July 1962, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev equipped Cuba with nuclear missiles. The Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962 was an intense confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. On October 16th, 1962 the Cuban Missile Crisis began. At a time like this, there was a need for a more private and efficient foreign policy. The best way to resolve the Cuban Missile Crisis was by using a form of “Back-Channel” or “Back-Door” Diplomacy.
